Blah blah blah me me me...

So yesterday I went to a scrapbook group with people from my church. Mistake number one. Only two people showed up, three if you count the hostess. The table was so small and she had like 8 chairs around it, there was no way in hell 8 people were going to fit around that table.

Before I get into this post I do want to mention that I like kids. I love hearing about all the fun things kids do and say. I like pictures of kids. I have absolutely nothing against kids.

With that being said. All the hostess did was talk either about her kids, her pregnency, her sisters kids, or her sisters pregnency. She talked nonstop for two hours about this. When I first got there she was already in full swing of talking about kids, so I turned on my ipod and put one earphone in my ear (not to appear rude) and listend to my music. She asked me about work, and 2 seconds into my explination of what I do she was back to talking about kids. Everything was about her and her kids. I seriously have never been around a person so absorbed by children. It got to the point were she was giving us a play by play as to what the kids in the other room were doing! Why didn't I leave... yeah I'm not really sure. Neither of the girls were people I wanted to be friends with, but I love scrapbooking and this was my excuse to scrapbook. So I stayed.. My Ipod died about 10 minutes after getting there... so I had to endure listening to her. At the end of our little scrapbook night she (the hostess) even asked me if I was going to have kids/trying. And I told her we wanted kids but were having a hard time conceiving. And insteaed of being sympathetic to my situation she STARTED TALKING ABOUT HER KIDS. I'm sorry but when someone tells you that they are unable to have kids, mabye you shouldn't discuss how great your kids are and how you feel complete by having them in your life... not cool... not cool at al.

I hang out with a lot of people that has kids. Never in my life was the ENTIRE conversation about them. I wanted stimulating conversation... anything! We didn't even discuss scrapbooking at all. I like groups that get together and learn from each other, groups that get excited about what other people are working on. We could talk about movies, books, ANYTHING. Scrapbooking for my friends has always been a way to escape their kids. Okay escape is a bad word, but it's a time they can get away, get together with the girls and just hang out. This was NOT the case last night. I may give it another go in a couple weeks, hopefully there will more people there and the conversation may be directed away from the hostess. If not, maybe I'll set up my own group of scrapbookers.

This is a boring post but I just get annoyed by people who only talk about themselves. It don't think it was really about the kids it was the fact that her entire conversation was about her. She didn't even try to listen to what others were saying because it all came back to her. I know everyone does that at some points in their life... I'm guilty of it every once in a while but... this was just so overboard!
