This Memorial Weekend was a bust. We didn't plan any special vacation, which ended up being a good thing. It rained, the wind blew, the tempature dropped to below 50 degrees. I feel bad for all the people who decided to chance the weather in Utah and go camping. It was cold! I turned our heater on on Saturday!
I told my husband on Friday that the weathermen were forcasting snow. He mocked me then on Sunday he looked outside and it was snowing. Not enough to cover the ground and it was mixed with rain but it was SNOWING at the end of May. Welcome to Utah people!
We bought the supplies to tape and mud our basement room. But I wasn't in the mood to work on Saturday or Sunday for that matter. So we watched movies. Lots of movies.
Then on Monday I finally decided to mud the basement room since the husband had hung the sheetrock it was my job to finish the room. My mom came over to help and teach me the art of mudding. I appreciate my mom's help. She was a single mom for a long time and had to do a lot of things on her own. I think that's why the girls in my family are so headstrong. She also is my grandfathers daughter (obviously) so she is a perfectionist at all that she does. No half ass job for my mom. So she taught me how to mud and tape the room right. And she's willing to come back and help me on the second and the third application. I'm hoping to work on the mudding this entire week and maybe by the weekend it will be ready for priming and painting!
So that's how I spent my weekend. It was nice to have a three day weekend, even if I didn't see the sun until 6 o'clock in the afternoon on Monday. We even tried to cook hot dog on a fire in our backyard Monday night and the wind was blowing so hard I was afraid of catching on fire. And as you'd guess the wind died down and the tempature seemed to go up as soon as we went back into the house for warmth. Yeah good ole Utah weather!

I've had basements, but I don't really know what it means to mud a basement. What is that?
I can't freaking believe it snowed - that is just insane!!!
I know people are going to curse me for saying this, but I was actually thankful for the weather this weekend. It meant that I didn't have to go out and work in the yard. I was able to hole up in my house and get things done inside instead of having BSC give me a crusty for not helping him in the yard.
We are sheetrocking a room in our basement, so I have to tape and mud the walls to smooth out the seams. I honestley can't think of the name of the "mud" it's just what we've always called it.
I still think that mudding and taping is the most difficult job EVER.
The weather was freaky, indeed.
I went to see AirSupply in Orem (No mocking, I get it enough from my husband)and luckily the weather was nice.
technically it's call mudding compound, believe it or not. sounds like good times were had by all.
