As everyone has heard by now, the Crocodile Hunter Steve Erwin has died. I was in New Mexico when my sister called to give me the news. My friend doesn't have a computer and barely has any television stations so I'm glad she called to let me know.
So this is my tribute to Steve Erwin. We were in Australia about 10 months ago. We missed Steve Erwin by a week. He was not on the property (he lived at the Australian Zoo) but he was going to be there the next week for this son's 2nd birthday. But I did find one cut out of Steve at the Zoo and got my picture taken with it. The picture is a bit dark, it was underneath a walkway as you went from one side of the Crocodile Stadium to the other. The zoo is amazing, and anyone that goes to Austrailia should go to the Australian Zoo. Steve's parents started the zoo, as an animal santiuary for hurt or lost animals. Steve grew up working at the zoo later took running it. There are amazing habitats there. And you can tell that the zoo isn't just for looking at the animals it's to learn about them and how to keep them safe. They were also in the process of building a gorilla habitat (think gorilla in the mist) it looked like it was going to be cool!
So as crazy as Steve Erwin was he's going to be missed. Me with Steve Cut-out

I wonder if his last words were, "Crikey!"
I'm sure there's no other way he'd want to go out than by a stingray to the chest.
R.I.P.
