Work STILL in progress

I wanted to write this post when our exercise room was completed but after a year of working on it I got impatient.

This is basically how our room looked before we started it.

Unfortunelty I didn't take pictures as the husband was working on the room so I missed the framing pictures

This is the room sheetrocked and mudded. Fianlly starting to prime.

and finished priming

The next step was to tape the walls for stripes.

Only to have this happen when we took off the tape. The blue painters tape that was in the PAINT SECTION. It took off the paint, the primer and in some spots the first layer of dry wall. That was a fun process to fix. Finally after much screaming and nashing of teeth we finally got the lines all painted.

Finally we felt were were at a finishing point. The light at the end of the tunnel was in sight. Only to have it all come crashing down on us when the sheetrock covering ALL the pipes and air ducts in our house cracked and looked like it was wet along a seam. We stewed and hummed about what the problem was and where it was coming from. Condensation? Leaky Pipes? We couldn't figure it out. We could see the pipes and duct work from the other side of the wall and we never could see water or leaks. So we tried once more to tape and mud the crack. We really were optimistic about having the problem fixed. Only to have it come crashing down this morning when we checked our work and again it was cracked and wet. This time we found the problem. There did look to be a leak. But where was it coming from?

So after Church my husband cut a huge hole in the just finished ceiling. A plumber friend in our neighborhood came over (yes on Sunday we were determined to get this figured out) and we figured out the problem. come to find out the person who installed all the plumbing in our house (the previous owner) didn't put silicone around the faucet in the master bathroom tub. So every time we took a shower water was going into the walls and following the pipes to the basement. Since the pipes were surrounded by insulation it never leaked. Once we took the insulation out from around the pipe, it was gushing water.

Now this is what the room currently looks like. Seriously is ther an end in sight?
