We aren't all crazy

I've been debating if I want to blog about what happened in our office yesterday. It's good stuff but... Well anyways Little Miss told me I should definitely blog about it so here goes...

My boss called me yesterday morning and said she got a strange cryptic message from our answering service from an employee that works part time in the afternoons.

The message: "Employee is canceling the deposition tomorrow because it's too far to drive". Which didn't make any sense. Did I mention that my boss got the call from our answering service at 1:30 in the morning! I pretty much figured what she meant was that she was quitting because she moved to a city North of where we worked and it was too long of a commute and she's been having a lot of car problems. When my boss finally talked to her she confirmed what I already knew. But also threw in this fun tidbit.

Backstory... As most people know I'm Mormon. The employee that we have working part time is also Mormon. My boss is Jewish. She's very understanding of our religion especially living in Utah and there are a lot of Mormons. Every once in a while she'll ask me questions about our beliefs or what we do in certain circumstances. Mainly she'll ask me about baby blessings, or about funerals and why we have the casket in the front of the chapel where we worship, or what to give to a child as a baptism gift or what is appropriate to give a missionary when they leave on a mission. But every once in a while she'll ask me doctrinal questions that I'm not sure how to answer her without sounding like I don't know anything about my religion or I'm crazy.

So back to my story. The employee also mentioned to my boss that she received a blessing from her bishop telling her that she needed to quit her job and find a job closer to home. Okay I accept that. I've never heard of a blessing being so straight forward and blunt but to each his own I guess. In the blessing she was also told that she needs to find a job that will allow her to work only 1 to 2 day a week. WTF? How is she suppose to support herself? She's divorced and living with a roommate. Oh yeah and she's been divorced twice and has 7 kids that she can't have any contact with. And she has to pay child support for at least 5 of these kids. So now I'm getting questions from my boss about blessings, where they come from and who can administer the blessings. There are two things that I don't like to talk about at work, politics and religion.

I honestly think she's crazy. She's said things to me in the past where I've walked away and thought to myself... Holy Crap this lady is crazy! I wish I could take a picture of her and post it on this blog but that wouldn't be very nice of me and I'm not good at being that discreet. I also think this women is the type that wants others to run her life. She's made a lot of poor decisions in her life and I think she's pretty messed up in the head. So she needs the approval of others (in this case her bishop) to make decisions. It's one thing to say I need to quit because my car sucks and the commute sucks and it's a whole different story to say God told me I need to quit my job. Crazy Crazy!

And I promise not all Mormons are crazy. If you ever met me you'd realize I'm pretty chill about my religion.

I think those nuts are in every religion! LOL! That was a funny story.

One of my very best friends (lol-don't ask) has been married 4 times and she is 29 years old. Everytime she gets divorced it is because she has found somebody else she likes better. And everytime it is because God led her to do that.

Her newest husband got divorced from his wife to marry her and she divorced her last husband to marry him because they knew that God wanted them to be together.

???????

God doesn't really encourage divorce ESPECIALLY just because you fell in love with a new man/woman.

Some people just don't have a clue!

Good grief. Yes, that is completely insane. I once had a guy break up with me because God told him to do it - I asked him if God told him to do it the day my dog died, because honestly - I think God would have cut me a little slack.. and there are a few other details I'll leave off here, because they're just too crazy.

But crazy is crazy. And you know I've had beyond my share of work crazy.

I need to update my ex-work lawsuit crazy stuff as they found more witnesses. Crazy crazy crazy!!!

Is this the woman who asked you if you were pregnant???

I can't stop staring at that cartoon picture of you swaying.

Are there any sane bosses out there? I mean really, I don't think I've ever had one. I know that BSC has never had one. Sounds like you're working for a crazy too. Anyone out there had a sane/normal boss?

I am with you, I can't stand to talk about religion or politics at work either...some things need to stay sacred.

Truly? I think she's lying. I know that is terrible to say, but is really what I think about it.

Of all the people for your boss to ask. DUDE.

That totally reminds me of that guy that Shyloh dated. The one who had the ex that had multiple personalities. One of her personalities was told by God that her and the guy were meant to be together so he broke up with Shyloh to go back to the nutjob.

I can understand your boss asking you about it. I mean, if she is honestly curious and not making fun of you in any way. Personally, I kind of like it when people ask me about Mormonism. There are so many misconceptions that people have, especially outside of Utah, and I am glad when I can clear some of those up for people.

I agree with Loralee, I think maybe something was implied and she took it and ran because, wait for it, she's CRAZY.
BTW, Loo, my boss is not crazy, he's great!
