It's funny that something as simple as a wedding shower reminds you of the good ole times.
This weekend my younger sisters' friend had a wedding shower. We were all invited. It wasn't just a shower for her; it was a chance for everyone to get together again and catch up. The shower guests were all people that we had grown up with. People from the neighborhood that I lived in, the churchmembers that we knew.
It's crazy how much people have changed, yet how much they are all the same. Britney still looks the same but now she has a 6 month old baby. I remember her and my brother playing when they were 5 or 6. Or Megan who I use to babysit when she was only a few months old and now she's in high school. Or Stephanie who was stuck in a tomboy stage and now she's in the Army. Or Autumn who gave up a baby for adoption 2 years ago. Everyone has moved out of the area yet we still find excuses to get together to catch up.
I hope when we have children, our kids will have the same relationship with our neighbors and friends. That one day when they are grown and have children of their own they will remember where they grew up and see the people that helped raise just like I did.
I know that everyone isn't as lucky as I was to live in the same house for 18+ years. To have a place that they could always go back to no matter how bad it got. I was that lucky and I'm glad that I have the memories that I have growing up. I use to wish that we could move and start over, that I didn't have to only go to one Elementary School, one Jr. High or one High School. I wanted to move to a new state and make new friends. But looking back I'm glad that we didn't. I'm glad that some of the friends that I had when I was 10 I can still call to see what's going on in their lives.

We moved every five years on average. I call myself a nomad because I'm not "from" anywhere. It always fascinates me to see homes of people who have lived there for long periods of time. It's like the house itself has become a member of the the family. It must have been a fun shower!
yeah... or they look the same, yet they've gone completely insane. amazing!!
PFTZ!
