Yesterday was Father's Day. For Bob and I Father's Day is a pretty meaningless day since we don't have any children. But being the good dutiful children that we are we decided to visit our fathers. We also were guilted into visiting Bob's parents since his mom is telling everyone and anyone that she sees in the stores, that might know us that we never visit, we never call (insert picture of me playing a violin for her), of course their arms and legs are broken so they can't visit or call either... but that is a whole other subject.
Anyways about our visit: We decided to go to Bob's parents first since we told my dad we'd visit around 6ish. So at 5:00 we went to Bob's parents house they were both in the basement. Now I'll describe their basement for you so you can get a visual pictures. They have a split level house so you go down 4-5 stairs and to the right is a large bathroom (very dirty), directly in front front is a bedroom (Blaines). To the left is a small hallway that leads to the TV Room. We walk in and all the lights are off and his parents are watching TV. They have 3 Recliners in front of a big screen TV. There are no other chairs in this room (it's small). The recliners are usually occupied by Bob's mother, father and brother. His brother was in bed (let me remind you we were there at 5 pm). So Bob sat on the floor and reluctantly I sat in Blaines chair (gross). The room is lined with cans (on the floor, in bags along the wall, pretty much anywhere there can be can). The room smells horrible! I try breathing through my mouth but then the smell becomes taste so I try to see how long I can go without breathing at all. There are old plates from past meals that I don't even know how long since they've been cleaned. Needless to say it's very dirty. We talk for a few minutes. His parents run down the list of all the things wrong with them. They let us know that Blaine (his younger brother) hasn't been seen in days. Not because he's always out and about but because he's been in his room for 4 days straight... again let me say gross! So at 5:30 we let them know we have to go visit my dad... our escape plan. As we are leaving Blaine emerges from his room, "how are you doing" we ask, "just trying to stay alive" is his reply- now my friends he's 23 years old!!!! Sad sad sad, it's so depressing when we visit, I'm so glad Bob is nothing like his family, but he gets so sad when we visit.
Next on the list is my dad's. We get there about 6ish and let him know that we have to visit Bob's parents at 7ish (another escape plan). Now my dad's isn't as bad. We sat outside in the nice fresh air and sunlight talking. The only thing bad about my dad's house is his wife Debbie, it's always a treat to see Debbie. My only joy out of the whole visit is to see how rude I can be to her and how she just ignores it. Oh the simple joys in my life!
So that was my fathers day, pretty uneventful.
