My Keys

This weekend I went to a BBQ with my cousins, that live less then a 1/2 hour away (and yet this is the first time I've done anything with them in 6 months) and I locked my keys in my car! I was babysitting my friends' daughter and brought her with me. So in my haste to get her out of the car seat and show her off to my cousins I set my keys down and locked my car. Therefore leaving everything that I needed for the BBQ and the baby in my car. Shortly after arriving at the park it started to rain. And not any rain it was a downpour at a horizontal angle. So even though we were under the pavilion we still were getting wet. Luckily one of my cousins had a baby blanket so I could wrap up my friend's daughter. After the rain stopped my cousin tried to get my door unlocked with slim jim. After 1/2 hour of trying he was no better off then when he started. My other cousins husband works at a repair shop and always having to break into cars. So we acquired a hanger and he was in my car in no time. Needless to say I felt dumb! I couldn't believe I locked my keys in my car! But all my cousins (with child) told me that it happens to them quite often. So I felt a bit comforted. At least this time my car was turned off (yes the last time I locked my keys in my car, the car was still running).

I just couldn't believe how hard it is to go places with a kid! I swear I had to make three trips to the car just to make sure I had everything that I needed, and I still forgot my camera and my chicken! Oh well it just proves I still need practice for when I have a little one.

So I only had momentary dumbness because I don't have kids... good to know.

Old people will always tell you how lucky you are to have small children. But old people don't get locked out of cars with small children. They forget the freqent hell of having small children. Don't feel bad about being forgetful. Blame it on the small children!!

I locked my keys in the car while in Brownsville. I felt so stupid. But it WAS the kids fault. And little miss would know - she has three AND a dog she treats like a kid!
