15 months

We've officially been in our house for 15 months now. I love our house. When we were looking for a house we wanted a fixer-uper something that we could fix up build equity and sell in a few years and get a better house. But when we toured our house we knew we had to buy it. It was perfect! The people that lived there before us treated the house really well, considering that they had two small children. Bob wanted a rambler, but I hated all the ramblers we looked at, so I was to the point I didn't want to look at anymore rambler. Our Real Estate Agent wasn't even going to take us to this house. But I found it on the MLS website so we went to see it. We made the offer that night at 9:00 pm. They countered our offer shortly thereafter and by 10:00 we were officially on our way to being homeowners. I honestly didn't think it would happen as fast as it did. We closed on the house 3 weeks later.

On one of our walkthroughs we opted to meet the owners. That way they could show us around and tell us about our new house. They were really nice and I'm really glad we got to meet them. He was a plumber and she was a housewife. His father owned an elecrical store so he did all the lighting and the previous owner did all the plumbing. I love our lighting! We have reading lights, movie lights, outlets everywhere, and light switches everywhere! Half the time I just flip light switches trying to remember where they all belong. When we moved in the front and the back already had lawn and a sprinkler system. The backyard was fenced. The house in my opinion was perfect. I didn't want a fixer-uper because I'm a cheap ass and I didn't want to spend our money fixing thing, I wanted to spend it buying stuff to decorate.

The reason I'm making this post isn't to talk about how perfect my house is though. I'm actually going to bitch about it for a second. First off I.love.my.house. If we ever moved I'd want to take our house with us! I really love it that much. But I hate the water heater and the heater! Either the place they installed it sucks ass or else the equipment just blows. Everytime the wind blows, or thinks about blowing our heater shuts off and the pilot light in the water heater goes off. Last night was one of those times. The heater has been on for the past few days but for some reason the damn pilot light in the water heater wont stay on.

I shower before I go to bed. I am so not a morning person so there is just no way I'd ever be able to get up in time to shower in the morning. So last night I hop in the shower and turn it on. It's mildly warm but not hot. So I start my showering process and the water isn't heating up. What the hell. So I turn it all the way to hot. Yeah not luck, it's still the same tempature maybe a bit colder. So my shower lasted a whole 2 minutes. Long enough for me to get soaped up, shampoo and conditioner and get the h.e.l.l out of there! I was pissed! So I went downstairs determined to light the water heater. I hate lighting that thing. Something about putting an open flame over open gas just scares me. Maybe it has something to do when I was in college and my roommate left the gas on our stove on too long before lighting it and nearly burned her eyebrows off from the explosion. I don't know. But after a few tries and waiting 10 minutes to make sure I was 100% sure there was no gas I got the water heater lite.

So manly that is my bitch about the house, I hate the water heater and the heater. But again I'm too cheap to go buy a new one. I just want these ones to work. I hate being cold!

Here are a few facts about me and the cold:
If my feet are cold my whole body is cold.
My feet are cold even when I wear 3 layers of socks.
I have a heater on under my desk year round; even during the summer when it's 110 degrees outside.
I sleep with a heating pad on my feet because they are so cold.
I love my flannel sheets because they keep me warm, even during the summer.
My husband hates the flannel sheets.
I love to stick my cold feet on my husband, he on the other hand doesn't like it.

I had a pretty good list going last night as I was going to sleep so if I remember any more I'll add to my list.

My feet are also cold, NO MATTER WHAT. I hate it! I have to have my little space heater under my desk turned to high at all times or my feet would fall off. Yes, I really think they would literally fall off.

cold water when there should be hot water is something that i WILL NOT tolerate. what? are we living in a third-world country? NO!!! a water heater has one job. ONE JOB! to heat the water! hence the name!

sorry... this happened to me a while ago and i had to go yell at ben. it wasn't his fault... but i just needed to yell at something. luckily, he understands this about me.

I would have yelled at Bob but he was sleeping so peaceful and had to get up in early in the morning.

I love my house as well, but it has some small issues that I could do without! Its just part of owning a house though, even brand new ones have issues.

i hate cold showers! they.suck.

and i'm definitely no fan of gas (not that kind anyway)...I'd take a stench over an explosion, er uh...fire.

mm, nevermind, i'm going to bed.
