In college Little Miss and I would stay up till 3 or 4 in the morning (on a school night) and watch MTV. Back in the day (those days) MTV actually played Music at night. Remember MTV Afterhours... Awww yes those were the days, watching the latest videos and hearing some good music! I even remember watching Michael Jackson's (when he was still black) Thriller. I.loved.that.video. Even now when I hear that song I can picture the monsters breaking out of the graveyard and dancing in the street.
Anyways MTV has changed.
This is my list of things I've learned from MTV.
1. From Next if you don't like your date pee in your pants. Yeah because if that's not embarrasing enough your being videotaped on national TV!!!!
2. From Room Raiders always make sure you room is clean, but not TOO clean. And have some nasty/dirty things hidden just for the shock value. You never know when you'll be kidnapped, thrown in a unmarked white van and some hot chick/guy will be rummaging through your room.
3. From Real World drink everynight, sleep around, show up late or not at all for work because yeah that's the "Real World".
4. From My Own if you can't get a date on your own try to get one that looks like your favorite music artist. Yeah because that's going to work out.
5. From The Guantlet be nice to the housemate or else they will throw all your clothes in the pool. Oh yeah and drink a lot too!
6. From Made if your not popular in High School try to be something your not because you'll definitly get more friends that way. Oh yeah and have a camera follow you around school, you'll get notice then!
So that's my list of things I've learned from watching MTV. I do wish that it was music on late at night, that would be the life.

I'm with you. I'm not even sure why they call it MTV (MUSIC Television) anymore. They certainly do not actually play any music any more. And even MTV2, who used to at least play more obscure bands, has fallen off the bad wagon and statrted playing shows instead of music. I mean, even when they do play videos, like on TRL, they are never intact and it is the same ten videos EVERY DAY! Can you tell I am a bit peeved at them?
Am I totally aging myself to say I remember going to a slumber party to watch the kick-off for MTV.. the first video played for the first time? And then living to see Duran Duran forever after.
Now the only thing I really watch on there is Boiling Points, because I know I wouldn't make it 30 seconds on any of those challenges.
p.s. - I've lost Little Misses new blog again.
help!
Am I crazy - where is your email?
holli: email me at justmeblog@yahoo.com
MTV makes me sad. Is this what the next generation is growing up like? Watching some of the shows like Sweet Sixteen makes me nervous to think that these people will be entering the work force in less than ten years. Is this all we'll have to choose from?
I am the fire starter!! good times, good times.
and remember the old ads? "I WANT MY...I WANT MY...I WANT MY MTV!"
I think that's why the videos are actually getting worse...they're trying desperately to get on tv, and the worse they are, the better the shock value, the better the shock value, the more attention they get, and then maybe--JUST MAYBE--their videos will get played more than once.
...just a theory
i miss when MTV was just music...
My New Blog!
I hear you sister! If you get up super earler and watch MTV, there will be music. Other than that, you are shit out of luck.
