The day has finally arrived.
The opening of Utah's very first IKEA.
Honestly I'm not sure why I've been so excited. But ever since I found out we were getting one I have been estatic. May 23 has been circled on my calendar for months. I've never been to an IKEA before, I've actually never even heard of one until I was looking in the paper and noticed that there was ALOT of job openings with IKEA and found out that it was a furniture store.
I love furniture stores. I usually trick my husband to visit R.C. Willeys at least once a month so I can caress the furniture. I need to love them. Now I have a new store to love and covet. My husband also hates to go with me to Lowes because I beeline for the paint section, I love to collect paint samples. Come to my house and each room has paint samples taped to the walls.
I can already tell that IKEA is going to be my new favorite store. The prices are so cheap, the stuff is so fun. I love the style and the design. I may just have to get a job there to support my new buying habit. Before I was all Target now I will be all IKEA.
Yesterday was the grand opening. I really wanted to skip work and be there in the morning. But I was good. My friends and I went yesterday evening. I was a little worried because I was so excited about this store and I didn't want to be let down. But it was everything I hoped it would be. Is that sad? I'm officially an IKEA junkie. I told my husband that I planned to spend about $100. I was so proud when I checked out and I had only spent $60. When I got home my husband was suprised I bought so much (especially the huge ass shelf). He didn't really think I was going to buy stuff. I was just proud with the restraint I did have.
So if I'm ever reported missing just check the local IKEA, I will probably be giving my love to something there. (Seriously I tell furniture that I love them -- I am that weird)

You know - I was so pumped up when they opened the IKEA near my place in McKinney.. I counted the days. And guess what??
I never even walked in the door!!! What in the world???
Have fun - people end up going nutballs in that place!!! I can't wait to see what you get. You must post pics!!
I thought about you and was hoping that you didn't go and get trampled by the throngs of people trampling to and fro!
I am going to have to make a trip down to SLC!!!!
I guess I'll have get off my high horse and go check out IKEA. I'm not much for IKEA, it's not really my style. I'll let you know if I get out of there without spending anything. Dang it all!
I don't really understand all the hype about IKEA, everyone always raved about them but I have never been a fan. I always found their stuff cheaply made and not very practical.
