Dentist today

Today I have to go to the dentist to get drilled, ugh! Not as bad as Nytro with her soon to be three root canals (so sorry girl!). Just a small cavity that needs to get drilled and filled, afternoon of fun for me!

Growing up my mom took us to the dentist in Bountiful (30 min drive from our house) religiously. I loved our dentist. He was a kids dentist so his office was geared towards the fun of children everywhere. I looked forward to going to the dentist. After our visit we got to walk up the little stairs to the window opening and pick out a prize. Usually they were molds of butterfly, cats, spiders, pretty much anything one can make a mold of. I loved to climb the stairs and get my prize, I climbed those stairs until I was 17 years old, sad I know. My mom never had a lot of sweets in our house. I remember going to friends houses and they would have their sugar cupboard, you know the one; with all the candies and cookies housed inside. I loved to raid my friends sweet cupboard because I knew when I got home I would not find our own sweet cupboard. My mom wasn't a health food nut, she was just a single mom trying to raise 5 kids, so money was not availiabe for sweets, but I digress.

When I was 17 years old I got my first cavity. I think largely in part because up until that time my family ate pretty healthy. When the dentist told me that I had a cavity I wanted a second opinion! There was no way I had a cavity, I brushed every single day! I was mad at my dentist for giving me a cavity! He may not have forced me to eat junk food for lunch everyday but by damn he found the cavity so he must have placed it there. Since then I've gotten a few more cavities, I handle the news a bit better. But I still blame my dentist for the first cavity! When I turned 18 we were suppose to switch dentists. Dr. Robertson (I think that's his name) was a children's dentist, on my last visit I asked him if I needed to go to a "real" dentist. He actually was insulted! He told me he was a real dentist, I beg to differ... He's a kid dentist not a real dentist. Real dentist are mean, they pull teeth, they drill and laugh while they do it; he was nice therefore not a real dentist.

So today I have to go get my cavity filled, it won't be all that bad, like I said it's a small one so hopefully 30 minutes or less. Plus my dentist has t.v's in the ceiling for watching while we are tilted back in the chair. I love to watch t.v. while being worked on at the dentist, it's almost as fun as knowing after the appointment I get to walk up the little stairs and pick out a prize.

mmm, yeah, I think you and Nytro pissed off the same dental deity.

(I'm going to cleanse my pallet right now and pay homage to the great beyond.)

I have still never gotten a cavitiy, but I would certainly blame others for one if I ever do get one.
